This is why I love the Daily Show

The thing with doing a comedy show parodying news shows is, you're often making light of events that might be tragic or shocking. This is very hard to do without being very very tasteless and insensitive.

That being the case, I was quite surprised and dismayed when I saw that Jon Stewart and John Oliver were doing a bit on the Mumbai terror attacks on yesterday's Daily Show. Whats happened in Mumbai affected me personally, and I really don't appreciate people making fun of it. But Jon and John came through, and the segment that followed captured my sentiments perfectly, while at the same time being hilarious.

"There will always be motherf**rs. What we can't do is let them control our motherf**king lives."

Amen to that.

Recently I have seen a documentary about the Munich hostage crisis in 1972 during the Olympics. The Germans were unprepared, this kind of terrorism was too new then. I felt the same when it happened in Mumbai. In the german documentary you could see police officers wearing training suits and war helmets at the same time. Bizarre and close to the satirical tv show.

Yeah, and terrorists were also giant motherfuckers, backed up by industrial grade douchebags. Many parallels between the two tragedies.

I have recently become a convert to the Daily Show too. Jon manages to skirt with political incorrectness all the time without quite crossing the line. A good way to unwind at 10 PM while having dinner.
